Recently, Heffernan Insurance Brokers adopted Volunteers of America Oregon as a non-profit it wanted to help for 2009, and they have helped paint a building and serve a holiday meal at our residential treatment program for men. Here's what one volunteer had to say about the experience:

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve at the Men's Residential Center yesterday. It was truly a great experience with a wonderful program. It’s very evident that the staff at MRC really care about the men that they are helping. We had an opportunity to chat with a couple of the clients yesterday, and learned that the respect that they are being GIVEN by the staff, and respect that they are being taught to GIVE by the staff is a large part of what makes this program successful. They were all pleasant, polite, helpful and most appreciative of what was being done for them yesterday. The community is truly blessed by having such a great program. It was a privilege to be a small part of the program!
